Does insurance cover nipple prostheses?
Insurance coverage varies by country and by individual insurance plan. We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to ask about eligibility.
For clients in the United States:
Nipple prostheses may be eligible for reimbursement under HCPCS code L8033 (custom nipple prosthesis). If this code is not fully covered, you may also ask about L8032 (prefabricated nipple prosthesis), which may offer partial coverage.
After your purchase, you will receive a PDF invoice by email that you can submit to your insurance company when filing a claim.
Some insurance providers may require a medical necessity letter or prescription from your doctor. If needed, the ICD-10 code C50.019 (malignant neoplasm of the breast, nipple, and areola) may be used. Additional codes may apply depending on your reconstructive surgery.
